Bishop Michael has written to the parishes of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle lifting the restriction of Communion from the Chalice within the Diocese with effect from the beginning of the new Liturgical Year, the First Sunday of Advent, Sunday, 1 December 2024.
As you can see from Bishop Michael’s letter (see below), each parish is being invited to determine when and if Communion from the Chalice will be reintroduced in their parish by engaging in a process of discernment and catechesis using the Pastoral Guidance document he references.
