As parishioners will read in the Parish Bulletin this weekend, I have taken the necessary steps to establish a Pastoral Council to serve our two parishes.
Those necessary steps involve approving and promulgating the Statutes for such a Council, directing its establishment, and making arrangements for elections. To ensure that these steps meet the requirements of the Church’s canon law, they must be undertaken by issuing decrees, which may sound foreign to our modern sensitivities but are about ensuring that the actions cannot be challenged via the Church’s legal structures.
I have therefore issued two decrees, both dated 30 June 2023 and with an effective date of 1 July 2023. The decrees are available on the Downloads page or below.
